Dreamstreet Derby Pageant

Dreamstreet Derby Pageant

Sunday 2nd March 2014

On Sunday, 2nd March, I was lucky enough to be invited to photograph Dreamstreet Derby’s beauty pageant at the beautiful Risley Hall Hotel & Spa, Derbyshire. All proceeds from the event went to Arthritis Research UK - http://www.arthritisresearchuk.org/.

Needless to say, the beauty pageant and charity event was an incredible success, thoroughly enjoyed by all 52 contestants, judges, parents and visitors. One person who couldn’t be prouder was Dreamstreet Derby’s Director, model and beauty queen, Sarah Foster-Curzon, who not only organised the event but coached many of the entrants.

We were also delighted to have none other than celebrity guest judge, Thelma Madine, dress marker who found fame on through her appearances on the hit TV show “My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding” and her daughter Hayley Madine. Thelma Madine was absolutely lovely, taking her time to pose for photographs and talk with the contestants.

2014 - Happy New Year

31st December 2013

As 2013 draws to a close with only a few hours remaining, you can’t help but sit back and reflect on the year and wonder what 2014 holds for you.

For me, 2013 was an interesting year, to say the least, with plenty of ups and downs. Most of all, it was a bit of a learning curve and finding my feet in Nottingham having moved to England from Uruguay, South America.

Looking back, there have been some brilliant highlights. Life in Nottingham has been great, a completely different experience (believe it or not!). Along the way I’ve met some amazing people, worked with incredibly talented photographers and models and been able to be a part of absolutely beautiful weddings doing what I love the most: photographing people’s special day, capturing those once in a life time moments.

Tickle Photography has been going from strength to strength and with 2014 beckoning, I’m thoroughly looking forward to what the new year has to offer. After months in the making, the Tickle Photography website – www.tickle-photography.net will be launched towards the end of January, showcasing a wide range of my wedding and portraiture photography. Feel free to “Like” Tickle Photography on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ticklephotography and add Tickle Photography as a friend  https://www.facebook.com/lou.ticklephotography.

On a personal level, I am being very unoriginal and keeping the same New Year’s Resolution as last year: Try something new. Do something for the first time. In the summer of 2014 a friend and I will be taking part in a charity skydive for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity (http://www.soldierscharity.org) so please, please sponsor us at http://fundraising.soldierscharity.org/glowingwithconfidence The money goes to a great cause and will make a huge difference to past and present soldiers.

So, as we see out the old and bring in the new, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support (and reading the first of many more blog entries!) and wish everyone the best of luck. May your 2014 be a great year, bringing you an abundance of good health, happiness and success.

Happy New Year!!! Bring on 2014!

Lou
